The
Hancock County Community Development Foundation (HCCDF)
was created to assist communities in Hancock County with
disaster recovery and stimulate community development
and growth. The Hancock County Long-Term Recovery
Committee was formed to restore the quality of life to
the citizens of Hancock County in the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina – with the focus of replacing or
repairing hurricane damaged homes.
After many months of collaboration, the boards of the
Hancock County Long-Term Recovery Committee and the
Hancock County Community Development Foundation have
merged the two organizations to avoid duplication of
efforts and provide more effective coordination of
resources.
The mission of the HCCDF is to:
§ To provide programs and support for the recovery of
Hancock County.
§ To support the educational and community programs of
Hancock County that stimulate job creation.
§ To foster small business growth and support workforce
development.
§ To fund scholarships for the purpose of youth in
Hancock County attaining a college education.
§ To act as an additional funding source to support
programs that further the purpose of the foundation and
economic development and growth in Hancock County.
§ To make grants, cooperating with the grant-making of
other organizations, and coordinating charitable
fundraising to support qualified educational and
community programs.
§ To support the long-term needs of community
non-governmental organizations.
