On March 31st and April 1st South Mississippians will roll out the red carpet at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport for the State’s Bicentennial Celebration. The deadline to register to be an exhibitor or food vendor is Wednesday, March 8th. Parade participants have until March 15th to register.
Bicentennial Committee Chairman, George Schloegel said, “Hundreds of volunteers have been working around the clock to make the Party of the Century an event to remember for Mississippi.”
“We want everyone to have the opportunity to be a part of this historic event,” he said.
The Salute to Mississippi & the Military Exhibit Area at the Festival is open to cities, counties, state agencies, and organizations that focus on Mississippi’s arts, culture, heritage, education and the military. There is no fee to participate, but you must register on line at www.ms200south.org.
There will be a limited number of Food Vendors featured in the “Taste of Mississippi to showcase the state’s best coastal and international cuisine. There is a small fee to participate and you can register on line at the website.
The deadline to sign up as a Parade participant is March 15th. On Saturday, April 1st at 11am, the Bicentennial Celebration will kick off with a Parade of Cities and Counties. The parade is open to Cities, Counties, State Agencies, Mardi Gras Krewes, Military Units, Walking Groups, Marching Bands, Dance Groups, and Pageant Winners. There is no fee to participate but you do need to apply on line at the website.
This two day event with over 25 performances is a free ticketed event with The Band Perry closing out the weekend as the headliner entertainment.
