Small Business Saturday, which is this Saturday, November 25, is about more than just shopping at local stores says Tish Williams, executive director of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce. “It’s about celebrating and sharing small businesses that are part of our lives–from corner stores to our restaurants and boutiques.”

“Small businesses and the people behind them make our communities unique, and when they succeed, we all do so let’s get out and support small businesses throughout Hancock County.”

Instead of heading to large retailers or purchasing items online, the Hancock Chamber says when you shop with local retailers you are also supporting vital government services like fire and police protection.

One study shows that for every dollar spent locally more than 60 cents remain in the community through taxes, payroll and other subsidies. In fact 93% of consumers believe that it is very important to shop at local small retailers. Studies also show that 80% of consumers are more likely to buy products from businesses that are members of the local Chamber of Commerce.

“People do business with those they know and trust,” she said. Being a member of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce is an investment in the future of your business and is the perfect way to build stronger relationships in the community, promote your business, gain greater access to business contacts, enhance exposure for your business, and ensure representation on local, state and federal issues.”
The Hancock Chamber of Commerce invites you to get out and Shop Small® Shop Chamber. For a complete list of local businesses and upcoming events, visit the Chamber of Commerce website at www.hancockchamber.org.
