Hancock Co., Miss. July 7, 2023 – The Hancock Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Midyear Meeting on Thursday, July 20th at Hollywood Casino – Gulf Coast.  Billed as the yearly “Business Over Brunch,” this event celebrates the good work going on in Hancock County through a high-energy jazz brunch, featuring live music by Holly’s Dad’s Jazz Band.

In addition to reports from the Hancock Chamber and Hancock County Community Development Foundation, attendees will also receive a State of the County Address by the President of the Board of Supervisors, Scotty Adam and the CEO of the Port & Harbor Commission, Blaine LaFontaine. Reports are expected to highlight major accomplishments and current projects spear-headed by all of these four partners in economic development.

The Midyear Meeting is the ideal forum to learn about the work of these governmental entities and non-profit organizations. At 98 years old, the Hancock Chamber is the largest and oldest business organization in Hancock County.  Its mission is to promote economic, social and civic well-being of the County, which it does through a robust program of work including over 150 meetings and events, 7 committees, professional development programming and the management of two additional nonprofit organizations:  Partners for Stennis & Michoud and the Hancock County Community Development Foundation.  The Chamber will provide an annual report at this meeting, highlighting their new website with enhanced marketing features for members.

The Hancock County Community Development Foundation will announce two grants:  one received that will support the new Business Resource Center made possible through the Coast Electric Community Trust Fund Operation Round Up and one program that will be introduced soon to support facade improvements along the Highway 90 corridor supported by Mississippi Power Company.

“There is so much momentum growing in Hancock County’s economy,” said Tish Williams, Hancock Chamber Executive Director.  “It’s exciting to watch the growth and progress, which gives all of us a great deal of pride.  We invite all who want to be a part of these efforts to join us to learn more about specific projects and opportunities that will significantly contribute to job growth and business retention and expansion in our county.”

The highlight of Business Over Brunch is the presentation of the Jody Compretta Person of Passion Award, which honors one outstanding member of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to Hancock County’s economic, social and civic well-being.  The recipient of this year’s award will be revealed at the conclusion of the meeting.

Seats and sponsorships can be reserved online at http://hancockchamber.org.  Admission is $35 for Chamber members and $45 for guests.  Doors open at 11 a.m. with mimosas and networking and live music. The buffet will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at noon.
