Hancock Co., Miss. – Aug. 24, 2023 – The Hancock Chamber of Commerce announced Tim Kellar as the 2023 Citizen of the Year at the Salute to Business & Industry Awards Gala tonight.  Kellar was elected by members of the Hancock Chamber and accepted the award to a standing ovation from over 450 attendees.

“This is just unbelievable,” he said.  “I’m so surprised, especially from a field with so many deserving folks.  Serving Hancock County has been the honor of a lifetime, and I’m so thankful for this recognition.”

Tim Kellar was born in Hancock County, Mississippi, and has lived in Hancock County his entire life. He is a fourth-generation Hancock County native and a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he received his degree in Resources Management. He and his wife, Jean, have two sons, Jordan and Evan. Evan and his wife, Mallory, have a daughter named Emmi.

Tim was elected to the office of Chancery Clerk in January of 1996. His responsibilities as Chancery Clerk include: County Treasurer, County Auditor, Clerk to County Supervisors, Clerk to Chancery Court Judges, and County Land Record Clerk.

He has also served Hancock County with many civic memberships such as: The Jaycees, Lion’s Club, Rotary Club, Hancock County Historical Society, Sons of the American Legion, Waveland Civic Organization, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Bay St. Louis Masonic Lodge, Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, Hancock County Leadership, the Mississippi Association of County Administrators, and past President of the Mississippi Chancery Clerk’s Association.
