Nov. 7, 2023 – Partners for Stennis & Michoud, in partnership with Hancock Chamber of Commerce, Mitchell Distributing and the Events Committee of Bay St. Louis will present Stennis Day in the Bay and Bud & Burgers in the Bay on Saturday, Nov. 11th from 12 – 5 p.m. at the historic Hancock County Courthouse located at 152 Main Street.  These events complement each other perfectly and will provide something for everyone to enjoy on Veterans Day.  Here is an idea of what you will find this weekend.

Stennis Day in the Bay:  30 exhibitors showcasing the work their companies do through interactive exhibits for adults and children.  Highlights include Northsore Community College’s Star and Fabrication Labs, INFINITY Science Center and Our Lady Academy’s robotics teams, and underwater drones from NOAA and Naval Meteorology & Oceanography command.  

Stennis Day ceremonies & photo ops include the following:

12 P.M. Kickoff ceremony with speeches from local elected officials, NASA Stennis representatives and performance of patriotic music by the Coast Chorale.  Lockheed Martin will make a special presentation of flags flown on board Artemis 1 to INFINITY Science Center, Partners for Stennis & Michoud, and Hancock County Board of Supervisors.

3 PM Hancock County Heritage Star Dedication Ceremony for Fred Haise, who will be attending in person and celebrating his 90th birthday.

4 P.M. Presentation by Rosemary Roosa, local author and daughter of Apollo 14 Astronaut Stuart Roosa.  Planting of a Moon Tree grown from the seeds Stuart Roosa brought on board Apollo 14 will take place immediately following the presentation.  Rosemary’s presentation will be indoors at the Main Street Methodist Church located nextdoor to the Hancock County Courthouse.  The Moon Tree will be planted in front of the Hancock County Courthouse.

Bud & Burgers in the Bay:  Presented by Mitchell Distributing and the Hancock Chamber’s Leadership Class of 2023, Bud & Burgers will feature 10 cooking teams vying for bragging rights, awesome Budweiser trophies and prizes and a chance to delight your tastebuds.  All teams will have either a space or ocean theme.  A $10 entry fee includes unlimited food samples while supplies last.  Beer and soft drinks will be available for purchase.  There will be prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as a People’s Choice Award.
