Applications Open through July 31st for Leadership Hancock

Applications are now open for Leadership Hancock, a program of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce, chaired by Janell Nolan of Coast Electric. Each year, Leadership Hancock (LHC) welcomes a class of 30 community leaders from a wide array of employers throughout the County to participate in this important program.  Leadership Hancock delivers 11 program days to explore leadership development tools and issues facing the community.  Since it was founded in 1996, over 500 community members have graduated building relationships and embracing issues impacting Hancock County. Leadership Hancock supports current and emerging leaders by facilitating them in developing their skills, creating community awareness, building relationships, and embracing issues impacting Hancock County. Participants are residents of Hancock County or employed here.  Applications are accepted online at www.hancockchamber.org through July 31st.  The annual fee to participate is $595 per person with scholarships available. Programs are focused on: workforce development, social infrastructure, industrial development, business development, quality of life, NASA’s Stennis Space Center, and civic infrastructure. The real value of the program is evidenced as graduates become leaders in Hancock County serving the public as non-profit board members and volunteers and as small business leaders and entrepreneurs growing our economy. “We believe effective leaders improve quality of life for their communities,” said Tish Williams, Executive Director of the Hancock Chamber. “Under the leadership of Janell Nolan, the committee works to cultivate leaders through the dynamic exchange of information, resources and relationship building.”

Hancock Chamber Calls for Nominations for Outstanding Citizens, Businesses and Nonprofits

Now in the 100th year of the founding of the Hancock Chamber by the Bay St. Louis Rotary, the community will celebrate this stellar year during the Annual Salute to Business & Industry on Thursday, August 28th at the Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast to recognize outstanding citizens, businesses, nonprofits and industry. The Chamber is accepting nominations now online at www.hancockchamber.org through Monday, June 23rd. If you know of an individual who should be recognized as an outstanding citizen for the work they do in our community, please submit a nomination providing information on their accomplishments. From the nominees, the Top 10 Outstanding Citizens will be recognized on the night of the Gala, and one will be named Citizen of the Year. You do not need to be a member of the Hancock Chamber to be nominated. The Chamber is also accepting nominations for other awards. Categories include Businesses of the Year for Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, and Kiln/Hancock County, and Nonprofit of the Year. These nominees should be members of the Hancock Chamber. Members of Hancock Chamber will elect one business from each area and one nonprofit to be recognized on the night of the Gala.  The Hancock County Port & Harbor Commission will also nominate and recognize one business as Industry of the Year during the Gala.

For more information on both programs, contact Janice Jones by email at janice@hancockchamber.org or at the Chamber Office at 228-467-9048.
