Mary Cowand Appointed as Marketing Communications Manager for Hancock Chamber of Commerce
The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Mary Cowand as its new Marketing Communications Manager. In this role, she will lead marketing, communications, and event coordination to support the Chamber’s 1,500 members and 20 community funds under the Hancock County Community Development Foundation. She will also direct marketing efforts for Partners for Stennis & Michoud.
Cowand brings a strong background in digital marketing, strategic communications, and engagement. She first joined the Chamber 15 years ago as a marketing specialist, where she launched its first comprehensive social media and mass communications strategy.
“Being part of the revitalization efforts years ago through the Chamber solidified my love for the area.” said Cowand. “It was then that I knew I intended to plant my roots in Hancock County. It’s a privilege to once again serve alongside such a passionate team. My heart is full.”
Since then, Cowand has built an impressive career. For the past decade, she served as Digital Marketing Manager at Keesler Federal Credit Union, where she led a team focused on paid media, brand strategy, website optimization, SEO, and content development.
“Mary has the graphic design, website development, and social media marketing skills we need to take this program to the next level,” said Tish Williams, Executive Director of the Hancock Chamber. “She knows the Chamber inside and out and has strong relationships with our members.”
Cowand is also a dedicated leader. She is a founding member and former co-chair of Hancock Young Professionals, past President and Vice President of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Credit Unions, and a graduate of Leadership Hancock.
Her accomplishments have earned her numerous honors, including recognition as one of the Top 100 Successful Women to Know by Gulf Coast Women’s Magazine, a nominee for Top 10 Coast Professionals Under 40, and a featured professional in South Mississippi Magazine. While in her position, her team at Keesler Federal received accolades such as CUNA Diamond Awards and the Mississippi Gulf Coast American Advertising Award.
“The community is very fortunate to welcome Mary back to the Chamber,” added Williams. “She has hit the ground running.”
