On Thursday, May 15, the Hancock Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2025 Midyear Meeting and State of the County Address at Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast. The annual event offered key updates on Hancock County’s economic development while recognizing local leaders for their contributions to the community.

The event’s highest honor—the Jody Compretta Person of Passion Award—was presented to John Ferrucci in recognition of his decades of leadership at the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel and dedicated service on the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Ferrucci retired in April as Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and General Manager.

Under Ferrucci’s leadership, the Silver Slipper earned numerous accolades including Hancock County Tourism Industry Business of the Year (2007), Diamondhead Business of the Year for Pier House (2008), Hancock County Citizen of the Year (2012), Tourism Person of the Year (2016), and Hancock County Business of the Year (2022).
